What We're Buying - Winter Wear

Each year, as the world is transformed by bright reds and oranges, and a chill creeps into the air once again, Pie + Fortune have one thing on their minds - the seasons' best, new outerwear.

Truth be told, more often than not, each fall finds them both with a perfect piece too extraordinary to resist.

This year, Pie was smitten by Buffalo's Raglan Sleeve Wool Coat.  Always a huge fan of fur collars, she also loved its vintage design, reminiscent of a 1950's over sized car coat.

Pie is giddily going to accessorize her new overcoat with Asos' burgundy extra long knit snood.  She loves the richness of the red as it plays against the black + white tones of the topper.  And, as the days turn a bit more gray and raw, a splash of lively color is her perfect antidote to any winter blues.

This year, Fortune also wanted to experiment with brights, and couldn't say no to Tracy Reese's Lemon Peplum Coat.  While she, too, adores clothing with a vintage aesthetic, she prefers referential pieces with a modern sensibility.  The coverups sunny hue is a delightful, fresh choice for winter wear, and its striking, deep cutout neckline is visually arresting.

On blustery days, Fortune is going to warm up with a chunky knit grey scarf, the perfect color compliment to her cloaks' rich, fur centerpiece.

The takeaway?  While Pie + Fortune's fashion desires are both kindled by a reverence for styles of old, along with a zeal for fur collars, brights and oversize knits, they each translated these must-haves in uniquely exciting ways.  So, when wandering over to your favorite shop or online purveyor, remember to always go with your gut - after all, being true to your personal style is what really counts.
